AI Student Report
A Deskpad Policy documentary. Now interviewing students.
The conversation about how students use AI has mostly happened without students in the room. We are making a documentary to change that, built entirely around the people living it.
The AI Student Report is a documentary we are making under Deskpad Policy. It is built from a series of sit-down interviews with students from eighth grade through college, some filmed in person and some over video, all of them talking honestly about how AI actually shows up in their schoolwork. We are recruiting the students who will be in it, and that is what this page is for.
What we're making
Who it's for
We are looking for students from eighth grade through college who are willing to talk candidly about their own experience with AI in school. You do not need a polished opinion or a tidy story, and you do not need to feel any particular way about AI. We are interested in what is actually happening, which means the honest, complicated, in-between answers matter to us as much as the strong ones.
How we film
Some interviews happen in person, sitting down with a single camera, and others happen over video, depending on where you are and what works for you. Either way it is a real conversation rather than a script. If you would rather not be identified, you can take part anonymously, and we will keep you unidentifiable in the final cut.
Why it stays honest
This lives under Deskpad Policy, which holds it to the same promise as everything else we publish. The film is not an advertisement for anything Deskpad makes, and it will include perspectives that have nothing flattering to say about us or about AI in general. What we are after is an honest record of how students are actually living through this moment, not a case for our own product.
Apply to be in it
If you want to be considered, the application below takes a few minutes. You must be at least thirteen, in eighth grade or older, to take part. It asks for some basic information so we can reach you and understand where you are coming from, and its final step walks you through exactly how the documentary works before you submit anything.
If you are selected, we follow up with proper legal documentation, and nothing is published without a signed release from you, and from a parent or guardian if you are under eighteen.
